With last week’s partnership announcements between the Philadelphia 76ers and Crypto.com and the Minnesota Timberwolves and Aura, our Properties division has now led the jersey patch sales efforts for 20% of NBA teams across the league. Six NBA teams have enlisted our services to source and negotiate partnerships that are centered around the jersey patch asset, but extend far beyond the patch with authentic integrations, community activations and various other initiatives.

Excel previously negotiated NBA jersey patch partnerships for the Charlotte Hornets, Houston Rockets, Chicago Bulls and the Boston Celtics and has become the go-to solution in the industry for the sale of on-uniform branding and other prestigious, high-value assets.

As a result of the latest process overseen by the Properties team, Crypto.com will appear on the 76ers jersey for the 2021-22 season, making its regular season debut when the team faces the New Orleans Pelicans on October 20. Aura will be featured on the Timberwolves jersey starting in the 2021-22 season, debuting at the Target Center on October 20.

What’s Next?

Following the success of the NBA jersey patch program, the NHL recently launched their sweater patch platform. The NHL is parlaying their sweater patch program with the helmet sponsorship opportunity which launched last season. Both advertising placements offer unique positioning for companies seeking overnight brand awareness.

While the 3-inch by 3.5-inch rectangle patch on the sweater and logo placement on the helmet will provide increased visibility for brands, these partnerships will also provide a tremendous amount of value for brands to leverage the relationship off-the-ice to activate in the community and develop fan engagement opportunities.
