NBA All-Star Weekend in Chicago was one for the books. From the social scene to center court, we were at the forefront of the action.

The Pre-Game Warmup

Excel’s annual All-Star tip-off party, expertly executed by our hospitality team, was the place to be seen as the weekend got started. The swanky Tao nightclub was the perfect backdrop for an industry mixer. Oh, and did we mention the Moët champagne bar?

On the Court

Excel was well represented on the hardwood in Chicago with seven clients featured in events throughout the weekend. Tyler Herro and Nicolo Melli got the nod as the future of the NBA with roster spots in the Rising Stars game.

All-Star Saturday night saw Pat Connaughton show off his hops and impress judges with dunks inspired by “White Men Can’t Jump” with help from reigning MLB MVP Christian Yelich of the Milwaukee Brewers. Khris Middleton flashed his handles and finesse in the NBA Skills Challenge. The main event on Sunday featured 4x All-Star Kemba Walker as a starter for Team Giannis, joined by first-time All-Star Brandon Ingram and Middleton, who was playing in his second All-Star game. Serbian big-man Nikola Jokic earned his second All-Star selection and took the floor for Team LeBron.

Off the Court

While each player handled their business on the court, Excel’s marketing team set up each all-star for success off the court, organizing appearances, content shoots and brand activations.

Brandon Ingram was busy with appearances for Adidas, AT&T and Kroger, but still found time to assist with community efforts at the Greater Chicago Food Depository.

Pat Connaughton joined AT&T for a production shoot ahead of the Dunk Contest and also visited the After School Matters Gallery for the NBA Voices Youth Community Conversation.

Nikola Jokic made his way to the Special Olympics Unified Basketball Game at Wintrust Arena, adding in an appearance for the Nike Kids Playlist event along the way.

Tyler Herro could be found at brand activations for New Era, Verizon, Kia and Levi’s throughout the weekend.

Kemba Walker showed up and showed out at the JBL Sounds of the City Experience at Water Tower Mall and swung by the Levi’s suite to mix and mingle with fans.

Khris Middleton spent time at the Boys & Girls Club Nike event ahead of the big game as well. Do it for the kids! #exceling
