With 40 total first-round picks, Excel has the most first-round MLB Draft picks of any agency since 2014. We kept the ball rolling this year with four first-rounders including Zac Veen (9th overall – Colorado Rockies), Reid Detmers (10th overall – Los Angeles Angels), Nick Bitsko (24th overall – Tampa Bay Rays) and Aaron Sabato (27th overall – Minnesota Twins).

This group joins good company among past Excel first-rounders including Dansby Swanson (1st overall; 2015), Kyle Schwarber (4th overall; 2014), Kyle Tucker (5th overall; 2015), Brady Singer (18th overall; 2018) and Walker Buehler (24th overall; 2015).

Outside of the first round, Excel’s Kyle Nicolas was drafted in round 2 and Kyle Hurt was selected in round 5.

Veen was the second high school player off the board on draft night, and cashed in with the Colorado Rockies, becoming the highest paid high school player in the 2020 MLB Draft.
Congrats to this year’s draft class! #exceling
