With the launch of Excel Media, Gideon Cohen has joined Excel to represent broadcasters and media personalities in addition to developing content opportunities for clients on both traditional and non-traditional media platforms. As Senior Vice President of Media Talent, Gideon will lead our expansion into the media landscape and support a wide range of clients including top network play-by-play voices, NBA, MLB and NFL stars turned broadcasters, studio hosts, podcast brands, national sports radio personalities, and other various contributors at networks like ESPN, CBS Sports, NBC Sports, FOX Sports and SiriusXM Radio.

Gideon brings a wealth of experience to Excel after 20 years as a talent agent with The Montag Group/IF Management where he led the company’s representation of sports media personalities and launched a dedicated podcast division. Previously, he spent two years as the Head of On-Air Talent for College Sports Television (CSTV), where he was responsible for recruiting and signing broadcasters for the upstart network (now CBS Sports Network). As the lead talent executive, he consummated deals for more than 100 broadcasters, athletes and coaches.

Gideon is a former aspiring broadcaster himself, having studied at and graduated from Syracuse’s Newhouse School of Communications. While at Syracuse, he worked on-air on WAER Radio, calling basketball and football games and hosting talk shows for a station that has also been the training ground for legendary broadcasters in the industry.

Gideon was recognized as one of Sports Business Journal’s “Forty Under 40” in 2019 and named one of The Big Lead’s “40 Under 40: Behind the Scenes in Sports Media” in 2017.
